 The Family Law Center (the Center) first opened in May 2005 and is located in the Windsor "Town Village." The Center is owned and operated by attorney Becky Rasmason. The Center's main objective is to provide "unbundled services" to family law litigants in Sonoma County at an affordable price. There are many well-qualified, full service family law attorneys in town. However, these attorneys usually require a large retainer.
The Center is staffed by one full time family law attorney, one paralegal, and two assistants. The Center also works with a variety of professionals, including, but not limited to, accountants, vocational experts, therapists, private investigators, special masters, mortgage brokers, and real estate appraisers. We are open for business Monday through Thursday from 9:00am until 4:00pm. Weekend and evening appointments are available upon request. Walk-in and same day appointments are available on a first come-first served basis.
Family law encompasses more than just divorces. The center also handles cases involving paternity, child custody, child support, domestic partnerships, spousal support, restraining orders and contempt of court matters. If you need legal assistance in an area of law other than family law, we will refer you to an attorney experienced in the area that you need.
The main idea behind the Center is that we provide only the services that you need. We provide the following services:
- ADVICE
- DOCUMENT PREPARATION (divorce, legal separation, domestic partnership, adoption, child custody, child support, spousal support, restraining orders, settlement agreements, responsive papers, declarations, trial briefs, legal research)
- ONE TIME COURT APPEARANCES
- MEDIATION
- SPECIAL MASTER (child custody)
The list of services above is a summary of the services that the Center provides. Please give us a call even if your issue does not appear on the list above. If we cannot help you, we will find someone who can.
Our fees are based upon the time that is actually spent on your case. For example, if we meet with you for one half hour and then spend another two hours preparing documents on your behalf, you will be charged for 2.5 hours. Your fee will be due on the day that the services are provided. The Center will accept cash, Mastercard, Visa, or personal checks (upon verification of funds).
